Box Score SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University
men's soccer team pulled out its third win of the season with a 2-1
victory over Washington College on Wednesday afternoon. The Sea
Gulls outshot the Shoremen, 36-2, in the game.
Salisbury opened up the scoring when junior midfielder
Stafford
Chipungu netted his first goal of the season in the
34th minute of the first half. Sophomore midfielder Pat
Callahan had the assist as he chipped the ball up to
Chipungu, who headed it into the back of the net.
Washington tied the game at one goal a piece just six minutes
into the second half, but from there, the Sea Gull defense would
lock down the Shoremen offense. The shot that scored the goal was
the only shot allowed by Salisbury for the entire half.
Salisbury broke the tie when sophomore forward Phil
Bucheimer put away the Sea Gulls' second goal off of
an assist from Chipungu. The assist came on a throw-in which
Bucheimer struck past the goalkeeper for the winning goal.
The Sea Gulls will next be in action at the St. Mary's (Md.)
Classic at St. Mary's (Md.) College. Their first game will be
against Methodist at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
