Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. – The Salisbury University
women's soccer team captured its first Capital Athletic Conference
(CAC) victory of the 2010 season with a 2-1 win over Marymount
(Va.) University on Wednesday night.
The Sea Gulls (2-2, 1-0 CAC) got on the board in the game's 18th
minute as junior forward Sarah
Jessilonis collected a pass from freshman forward
Colleen
O'Connell and put a shot on frame that went off the
goalkeeper's hands and into the net. That would be the only goal of
the first half, but the Sea Gulls did fire off 13 shots compared to
just three for the Saints (1-3, 0-1 CAC).
Salisbury would strike just four minutes into the second half, as
Jessilonis would find the back of the net again off an assist from
junior midfielder Brenna
Stuhler. Marymount got on the board in the 83rd minute
when Paige Pierson converted a penalty kick. For the match the Sea
Gulls held a 21-4 shots advantage and won 15 corner kicks compared
to just one for the Saints.
The Sea Gulls will continue play on the road as they are set to
travel to Lynchburg, Va., for the Shellenberger Classic this
weekend. SU will square off against Lynchburg College on Saturday
at 4 p.m.
