NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Junior Kelly Vieira recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 15 digs to lead the Salisbury University volleyball team to a 3-1 (25-18, 25-20, 25-27, 25-23) win over the University of Mary Washington in a non-conference match at the CNU Invitational at the Freeman Center Friday.
Vieira also finished with four service aces and three block assists as SU (19-1) won its 13th straight match. The loss for UMW (14-5) is its fourth in six matches but snapped a two-match winning streak.
Sophomore Sam Seifert chipped in with 13 kills and junior Chelsea Glowacki tallied nine kills and four block assists while freshman Michelle Meehan had 18 digs.
After winning the first two games comfortably and dropping the third, SU rallied from down as many as eight points at 20-12 in the fourth game to secure the match.
SU faces the toughest test of the regular season Saturday as the tournament continues. The Sea Gulls play No. 11 Juniata College at 2 p.m., before closing play against host No. 6 Christopher Newport University at 4 p.m.
