SALISBURY, Md. – The No. 18 Salisbury University men's soccer team played to a 2-2 double-overtime tie Saturday in its first-ever meeting with The College of New Jersey.

TCNJ opened the scoring with a goal just six minutes into the first half by forward Dan Constants. Constants floated a shot over the head of senior goalkeeper Brandon Mumby to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.

Salisbury (7-2-2) answered back to tie the game in the 15th minute when senior midfielder Morgan Hunt sent a pass to sophomore forward Trevor Sharpe in the 18-yard box. Sharpe took the pass, beat a Lion defender and slipped a shot, across the front of the keeper, into the net. The goal is his third in the past two games for his team-leading sixth of the season.

Freshman forward Matt Greene gave the Gulls the lead, 2-1, in the 29th minute. Greene and senior forward Ian Wilson were on a fast break with only the goalie to beat. Wilson dribbled up the field and crossed a pass to Greene, who planted the ball in the back of the goal.

The Sea Gulls held the lead until the final three minutes of regulation when TCNJ (4-5-4) scored the equalizer to send the game into overtime. In the two overtime periods Salisbury had five total shots, but was unable to capitalize on the opportunities. The team's best chance came on a shot by sophomore midfielder Jake Perry which sailed just over the crossbar.

Salisbury will be in action again in a match with Capital Athletic Conference foe Wesley College on Wednesday. The game is set to start at 3:30 p.m.
