Sea Gulls drop CAC match to York, 1-0

YORK, Pa. – The Salisbury University women's soccer team suffered its first defeat in Capital Athletic Conference play with a 1-0 loss at York (Pa.) College Saturday afternoon.

The statsheet matched the scoreboard, as York (7-1-5, 2-0-2 CAC) held an 11-8 advantage in shots over the Sea Gulls. The Spartans also attempted one more shot on goal than Salisbury (8-4, 3-1), for a 4-3 advantage.

Senior Sarah Pfundstein led the Salisbury attack with four shots in the game.

Sophomore Michelle Conrad stopped three Spartan shots in the contest.

Ali Schoppe netted the lone goal of the match for York in the 40th minute off of a loose ball in the box.

The Sea Gulls have an immediate chance to get back in the win column, facing Lynchburg College Sunday at the SU Soccer Complex. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. Part of the Homecoming weekend festivities, the Sea Gulls will celebrate Senior Day. Seniors Casey Hafford, Erin Mooney, Melissa OrgeraBonnie Sandone and Pfundstein will be honored prior to the match.
