Sea Gulls draw with Blue Jays, 0-0

BALTIMORE – The No. 23 Salisbury University men's soccer team took Johns Hopkins University the distance on Wednesday in a 0-0 draw in double overtime.

Salisbury looked to have an advantage in the first half by outshooting the Blue Jays 6-2 but was unable to grab a lead going into the half.

Junior forward Matt Greene led the Sea Gulls with two shots in the first half and was tied for Salisbury's lead for the game with five shots.

Also ripping off five shots, senior midfielder Jeremy Moyer led the team with three shots on goal.

The second half was more even as the Gulls and the Blue Jays each had seven shots, but Johns Hopkins led the corner-kick count, 4-1.

Moyer had three of his shots (two on goal) in the second half.

Neither team was able to capitalize in the overtime periods with the Blue Jays outshooting the Sea Gulls, 6-1, resulting in the 0-0 tie.

For the game, Johns Hopkins had the slight edge in shots, 15-14, but the Sea Gulls had the advantage in shots on goal, 5-4.

Senior goalkeeper John Vnenchak played all 110 minutes for Salisbury while making four saves.

Salisbury will be in action again on Saturday as the Gulls travel to The College of New Jersey for a match set for 1 p.m.
