Box Score HAMPTON, Va. – Five Salisbury University pitchers combined for a five-hit shutout win over the Apprentice School, 20-0, in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday.
Freshman right-hander Brett Collacchi (2-0) earned his second win in as many starts, allowing just three hits and no walks while striking out six before freshman Danny Druzgala, seniors Bill Morton and Stephen Miller and freshman Kyle Hamby each threw an inning of relief for No. 9 Salisbury (9-2).
Freshmen Kyle Hayman earned his first collegiate start and at-bats and came through in a big way. He posted a game-high four hits and drove in one run to lead a group of five Sea Gulls with multiple hits.
Sophomores Bill Root, Joey Jones and Quinn Griffith all were 3-for-4 on the day. Senior Chris Connor was also 2-for-3 with an RBI. Griffith finished with a game-high three RBIs.
Salisbury returns to Capital Athletic Conference play this weekend, hosting 2011 CAC tournament champion Frostburg State University in a three-game series. The teams will play a doubleheader beginning at noon on Saturday and close the set with a single game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
