Box Score

FROSTBURG, Md. – The rematch of the 2012 Capital Athletic Conference tournament championship game saw the same result through 110 minutes of play, as Salisbury University women's soccer team drew a 0-0 tie against Frostburg State University Saturday afternoon from Bobcat Stadium. In the 2012 championship game, the Bobcats claimed the conference title in a penalty-kick shootout.

Junior Michelle Conrad made six saves in 65 minutes of play, with freshman Alesha Seifert making an additional three saves during the second half to keep Frostburg State (6-7-2, 2-2-2 CAC) off the scoreboard.

Salisbury had chances early, including a shot by sophomore Tabitha Brown following a corner kick inserted by classmate Samantha Beck just past eight minutes into the contest. That was one of two shots for Salisbury (7-5-3, 2-2-1) in the first half, compared to the six for the Bobcats.

For the contest, Frostburg State outshot the Sea Gulls 18-11, with each team attempting one shot in each of the overtime periods.

Salisbury had opportunities throughout the contest but was unable to push the ball over the goal line. In the middle of the 82nd minute, sophomore Casey Arnone sent a header on goal that was pushed away by the Bobcat defense. Frostburg State was unable to clear the zone though, with Arnone putting another header on goal that went just wide.

Arnone led the Sea Gull attack with three shots, one of which was on goal.

Frostburg State nearly took the game with 1:47 remaining in regulation. Bobcats' Stephanie Paskowski's saw an opportunity resulting in a shot off the post, which was followed by a header by Erin Worthman that was saved by Seifert.

Salisbury had two close misses in the overtime periods. In the first overtime, following a Bobcat foul, freshman Lindsey Andonian got off a header that went wide of the net. In the second bonus period, Arnone sent a header just wide off a corner kick sent in by Beck.

Today's contest was the final game of a four-game stretch on the road. The Sea Gulls return to the SU Soccer Complex after two weeks away, to host St. Mary's College of Maryland on Wednesday, Oct. 23. The contest is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
