SALISBURY, Md. – The No. 7 Salisbury University men's lacrosse team earned its bid to compete for its 18th Capital Athletic Conference championship with a victory in a CAC semifinal game over the University of Mary Washington, 20-8, on Saturday at Sea Gull Stadium.

Sophomore attackman Jesse Rabishaw, in his first start of the season, led the Sea Gulls with a breakout game, totaling nine points on six goals and three assists. Fellow attackmen, junior Rhett DePol and freshman Brady Dashiell, also had big games, as Dashiell netted five goals with one assist and DePol led the team with six assists and tallied one goal.

Finding themselves trailing after the first 14 minutes of the first quarter, 3-2, despite two Eric Kluge goals, the Sea Gulls scored three goals in the final 67 seconds to grab the lead. Rabishaw tied the game on a pass from Dashiell that he caught and bounced between the goalkeeper's legs at the 1:07 mark.

The Gulls gained the lead for the first time just 27 seconds later and never looked back, with Dashiell picking up a ground ball in front of the crease and planting a low shot in the cage.

Following Rabishaw's second, with 11 seconds left, Salisbury took a 5-3 lead into the second quarter.

Dashiell scored all three Sea Gull goals in the quarter, first taking a pass in transition from freshman midfielder Preston Dabbs and dunking a shot on the crease. Less than 60 seconds later, Rabishaw fed Dashiell another fast-break pass, with which the Salisbury, Md., native spun and shot for the goal.

Mary Washington cut the lead to 7-5 with two goals, including one from Luke Dick, one of three Eagles who had two goals on the day, but Dashiell's third of the frame gave the Gulls an 8-5 lead at halftime.

At the half, Salisbury led in shots, 24-11, face-offs won, 10-of-15, and ground balls, 25-18.

After another score by Dick for the Eagles to start the third quarter, the Sea Gulls ripped off a nine-goal run that lasted into the fourth quarter to take a commanding 17-6 lead. The run included four goals and two assists from Rabishaw, including the first two Sea Gull goals of the half at the 9:35 and 9:26 marks in the third.

DePol assisted four of the goals in the run, as the Sea Gulls' main distributor.

Midfielders, sophomore Mike Kane and junior Tyler Smith, who both scored two goals in the game, combined for Salisbury's final three goals to cap the win.

Junior goalkeeper Alex Taylor made eight saves in the win, while playing 57:32 in the cage.

The Sea Gulls will host St. Mary's College of Maryland next weekend in the CAC championship game at Sea Gull Stadium; the date and time of the game is to be determined.
