OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Salisbury University women's tennis team earned its 12th straight victory, 8-1, over Elizabethtown College Wednesday afternoon at the McDonogh School. The 12-match win streak is the longest in program history.

The Sea Gulls, ranked No. 8 in the Atlantic South Region, received strong efforts in singles play from freshman Natalie Savage who earned her third victory at the No. 1, 6-2, 6-3, while senior Elaina Iosue picked up a straight-set win at No. 2, 6-4, 6-1.

Sophomore Roxanne Alban picked up a tough three-set victory 6-3, 0-6, 6-3, rebounding from a difficult second set to capture victory at No. 3. Sophomore Katie Youlios rolled to a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles, while senior Victoria Handlin earned a hard-fought three-set victory 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 in the third set super tie-breaker.

Junior Jessica Babyak also earned a three-set victory at No. 6, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-2 in the third set super tie-breaker.

The maroon and gold won two of the three doubles on the day, with Savage and Alban toughing out a narrow 8-5 win at No. 1 and Youlios and Iosue rolling to an 8-1 win at No. 2.

Elizabethtown (7-2), ranked No. 11 in the Atlantic South region, earned its only point of the day at No. 3 doubles as Christine Evangelista and Kaitlyn Pellegrino defeated the Sea Gull duo of Babyak and Handlin in a close match, 8-5.

The Sea Gulls (12-2) will try to continue their strong play when they return home to the SU Tennis Courts against non-conference foe Muhlenberg College, Friday, April 5. The match is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
