No. 3 Salisbury edges Frostburg, 2-0, in CAC play

Box Score

FROSTBURG, Md. – The third-ranked Salisbury University field hockey team earned a 2-0 victory against Capital Athletic Conference opponent Frostburg State University on Saturday afternoon.

Overall, the Sea Gulls (11-1, 3-0 CAC) dominated the stat sheet, but struggled to capitalize on many of their opportunities. Salisbury's lone first-half goal came at the seven-minute mark, when senior midfielder Hannah Miller dished a pass in front of the cage to junior forward Natalie Wilkinson, who finished the play for the 1-0 advantage.

After that score, the Bobcats (5-10, 0-4 CAC) were able to keep the Sea Gulls at bay until the 54th minute of play, when freshman forward Rachel Domanico took a pass from classmate Paige Twilley-Webster and scored to stretch Salisbury's lead to two.

The maroon and gold outshot Frostburg 15-0 and held a 13-0 advantage in penalty corners. The win marks Salisbury's sixth shutout of the season.

The Sea Gulls welcome CAC opponent Christopher Newport University to Sea Gull Stadium on Wednesday, October 19 at 6 p.m., for their last regular-season home game. They will also celebrate their six seniors as part of Senior Day.
