ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's soccer team hit the road for the Seahawk Classic at St. Mary's College of Maryland on Saturday, playing Bridgewater (Va.) College to a scoreless draw in hot and humid conditions.

Salisbury (1-0-1) held the better of the chances against the Eagles in the contest, holding a 13-6 edge in shots and an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Sea Gulls earned a pair of corner kicks and tried three shots in the opening 10 minutes of play, putting two tries on frame, but Bridgewater goalkeeper Mark Davis made the stops on Matt Zimmerman and Brooks Zentgraf's tries.

The Eagles (1-0-2) attempted a pair of shots in the opening 45 minutes, but neither was on target to challenge Salisbury keeper Robert Fiackos.

Three more shots were attempted by the Sea Gulls in the second half, with Davis needing to register one save to send the game to overtime, as Fiakos notched his only save of the day in the 67th minute of the contest.

In the two overtime periods, the Eagles attempted two shots, while Salisbury's Colby Fell attempted the Sea Gulls' only extra-time try with a minute remaining, but the effort was wide of the target, leaving the game in a scoreless draw.

Salisbury returns to action on Sunday, September 11, taking on Gustavus Adolphus College on the second day of the Seahawk Classic. That contest is slated to begin at noon.
