SALISBURY, Md. – The No. 1 ranked Salisbury University men's lacrosse team hosted Capital Athletic Conference rival, third-ranked York College of Pennsylvania on Wednesday night and took down the Spartans, 17-10, in front of 1,422 fans.

With the win Salisbury (15-0, 8-0 CAC) has won 20-straight games dating back to last season when York beat the Gulls in the CAC championship game. Also with the win, Salisbury secures home-field advantage throughout the CAC playoffs.

The Sea Gulls got things rolling just nine seconds in as Duncan Campbell won the opening draw to himself and called his own number, getting his first of the season. He ended the game with two goals to go along with a game-high eight groundballs. Both of his goals came in similar fashion, directly off a faceoff win to himself.

Salisbury worked up a 6-3 lead by the end of the first as Kevin McDermott, Josh Melton, and Garrett Reynolds all struck within a three-minute span near the end of the quarter to push the lead to 5-2. The Reynold's goal closed out Salisbury's scoring for the quarter as he got a pick from McDermott and drove hard to his right before letting a jump shot go that had eyes for just inside the left pipe.

York was able to slow the Gulls down a bit in the second with both teams notching two goals and neither side scoring until a Spartan goal at 7:20. Prior to the Spartan goal, Colin Reymann made his presence felt in cage as Thomas Pfeiffer had a look wide open on the crease on a man-up situation that he tried to go up top but Reymann exploded up and matched Pfeiffer's stick to keep him off the board. Reymann ended with 12 saves and his 15th win of the season.

Campbell and Brendan Bromwell got Salisbury's markers in the second. Bromwell got his on a 15-yard rip after Corey Gwin rolled back off a dodge and found a wide open Bromwell who blew it past Landry Marshall.

Gwin ended with a career-high three goals and two assists as the lefty got all three of his goals with the stick in his right hand.

York kept it close with the 8-5 score at half, but Salisbury used a 5-2 advantage in the third quarter to close out the contest. Gwin got the first of the period; then over a nine-minute span in the quarter, Salisbury got four straight from Reynolds, Nick Garbarino (two goals), and Nathan Blondino. Blondino's goal was the offensive highlight of the game as McDermott had the ball at X and rolled it back to Blondino who pushed to his left and tucked the ball in backhand with only a sliver of the top-right corner being available.

Blondino ended with two goals and two assists while Garbarino had three goals from the attack. Reynolds ended with three goals on just four shots.

York scored with three seconds to go in the third but Salisbury opened the fourth quarter with another four-goal run to give the Sea Gulls an 8-1 run over a 21-minute span between the third and fourth quarters.

York closed out the game with a four-goal run of its own but it was too little, too late and Salisbury took down the third-ranked team by a seven-goal margin.

Salisbury now has a two-day turnaround now as it is back in action this Friday, April 14 when it travels to No. 14 Cabrini University.
