YORK, Pa. – The No. 8 Salisbury University field hockey team preserved its unbeaten Capital Athletic Conference record on Wednesday afternoon, defeating CAC opponent York College of Pennsylvania, 4-3. 

The first half of game was a back-and-forth affair between the Sea Gulls (12-2, 3-0 CAC) and Spartans (8-6, 2-1 CAC), with neither team allowing a score in the first 22 minutes, until sophomore midfielder Camryn Dennis was able to tip in a shot from junior midfielder Arielle Johnston to give Salisbury a 1-0 lead. It would be the only goal of the first half.

The second half saw significantly more action than the first. The Sea Gulls were able to net a pair of goals in less than two minutes – the first off the stick of freshman Tara Flavin and the second from sophomore forward Jenna Partilla with the assist from Dennis – before York's offense came alive, netting two of its own to make it a 3-2 game with less than 16 minutes remaining.

With less than 10 minutes to play and momentum shifting in York's favor, Johnston netted a clutch goal, firing a shot just inside the circle that clanged into the cage for a 4-2 Sea Gull advantage.

The Spartans made one last push, earning three penalty corners in the last 70 seconds of play. As time expired, York earned a penalty stroke – its second of the game – and despite sophomore goalkeeper Dom Farrace making contact, the ball found its way into the top-right corner of the cage to give York its third goal of the day with no time showing on the clock. 

Salisbury remains on the road for its next contest, against CAC opponent St. Mary's College of Maryland, on Saturday, October 20 at 3 p.m.
