CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The No. 6 Salisbury University field hockey team closed out its season-opening five-game road stretch with a convincing 6-0 win at Washington (Md.) College on Wednesday night.

The defense again stood strong, registering its third shutout in the first five games of the season, allowing just three goals this year for a team 0.60 goals-against average. Sophomore Dom Farrace was the early beneficiary of the strong defense, facing only four shots on goal in her 52 minutes in the cage, making the four saves to lead the way to the shutout. Junior Caitlin Harris and freshman Hope Wobbe each saw time in goal in the second half, but neither were required to make a save.

The Sea Gull offense got things going with a pair of goals in a three-minute span beginning with Jenna Partilla's first marker of the season, off an assist from Jillian Hughes in the 16th minute.

Moments later, Tara Daddio stole a clearing pass and finished for the 2-0 lead and Salisbury never looked back. Partilla and Daddio each scored two goals in the game with Daddio's second pushing the score to 3-0 heading to halftime.

Partilla, Arielle Johnston, and Kate Melvin each scored in the second half to get the game to its final score. The score for Melvin is her first in maroon and gold.

Salisbury plays at the friendly confines of Sea Gull Stadium for the first time in 2018 this Saturday, September 15 when the team hosts Cabrini University in a contest slated to begin at 6 p.m.
