SALISBURY, Md. – The No. 6 Salisbury University field hockey team rolled to a 5-0 win over Cabrini University in its first home game of the 2018 season on Saturday night at Sea Gull Stadium.

The Sea Gulls (5-1) controlled play throughout, not allowing a single shot by the Cavaliers (1-4) and never allowing a sustained possession for Cabrini in its offensive circle with the defense and midfield control led by Arielle Johnston, Jillian Hughes, and Sarah Jackson.

Tara Daddio got the scoring going off one of seven Salisbury penalty corners in the first half. With 27 minutes showing on the clock, Hughes sent a ball in from the right wing. Daddio was set up right in front of Cabrini goalkeeper Devon Scharf and deflected the ball through and into the cage for the 1-0 lead and her sixth goal of the season.

Freshman Tara Flavin converted on the first goal of her career in the 25th minute, carrying the ball into the circle before unleashing a blast from just inside the circle on the left side and scoring near side for the 2-0 lead.

The two-goal lead held at halftime and sophomore Jenna Partilla added to the advantage six minutes into the second half, collecting a rebound off her own try before lifting a second effort into the top of the cage.

Freshman McKenzie Mitchell got the first two goals of her career to cap the scoring, putting one home off Meghan Jolikko's diving assist, tapping the ball in front for Mitchell in the 55th minute and adding an unassisted tally seven minutes later.

Salisbury will be back in action on Wednesday, September 19, traveling to Johns Hopkins University for a contest slated to begin at 6 p.m.
