Women's soccer takes draw versus Cardinals

Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Salisbury University Women's soccer team traveled to The Catholic University of America on Sunday afternoon and came away with a 1-1 draw against the Cardinals.

The Sea Gulls (2-4-1) scored first in the 55th minute when forward Julianna Boller tallied an unassisted header goal on a rebounded save attempt from the Cardinals goalkeeper for her second score of the season.

The lead did not last very long, however, as the Cardinals (4-0-2) evened the score only 46 seconds later on a converted penalty kick following a Salisbury foul inside the box.

Both teams found themselves with a few chances to end the match in both overtimes, but neither could capitalize on their opportunities. Salisbury's best chance came with just over two minutes to go in the second overtime when the Catholic goalkeeper mishandled the ball at the outer edge of the box. Cristina Narron managed to get her foot on the ball and send it towards the goal, but a Cardinal defender deflected it wide.

Following a two-week hiatus, the team will return home on Wednesday, September 19 to take on the Rutgers University - Newark Scarlet Raiders at Sea Gull Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
