SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University baseball team won its second game of the season on Friday afternoon when it came back late in the game to defeat Immaculata University, 5-2.

Jason McDonough got the nod for the Sea Gulls (2-0) for his first start of the season, but surrendered singles to the first two batters he faced before walking batter number three to load the bases with no outs. A sacrifice fly and a wild pitch with two away resulted in two runs for the Mighty Macs (0-1). McDonough was replaced by Andrew Rosso, who struck out his only batter to record the final out of the inning.

Salisbury cut its deficit to 2-1 in the second inning when shortstop Jimmy Adkins drilled a double down the left field line with one out to score Troy Miller from second base.

Brad Haas tied the game for the maroon and gold in the sixth inning when he smacked a single through the left side of the infield with one away to drive Brandon Bonesteel home from third base.

The Sea Gulls grabbed the lead for the first time in the seventh inning. Right fielder Cameron Hyder managed to reach first base on a fielder's choice with one out, but was then able to advance to second base on a throwing error by the Immaculata second basemen. The error allowed Tyler Mayo to advance home to give Salisbury a 3-2 lead.

Bonesteel provided some breathing room for his team in the following at-bat when he launched a two-run shot over the right field fence for his second home run in as many games and push the lead to 5-2.

Daniel Frake earned his second win in relief, pitching 1 2/3 innings while striking out four batters. Corey Burton collected his first save of the season with a strikeout and two ground outs in the ninth inning to close the door and secure the win for the Sea Gulls.

Salisbury returns to action on Sunday, February 17 when it hosts the Stevens Institute of Technology. Due to the likelihood of inclement weather moving through the area later in the afternoon, Sunday's start time has been pushed up 30 minutes, from noon to 11:30 a.m.
