FREDERICK, Md. – Thanks to a late goal by Samantha Spears, the Salisbury University women's soccer team took down the Hood Blazers, 1-0, on Wednesday to end a four-game scoreless streak by the Sea Gulls.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Salisbury dominated possession in the first half, getting 11 shots off and forcing goalkeeper Gabi Dolan to make seven saves. However, the Sea Gulls failed to find the back of the net in the first 45 minutes.
• Both teams got opportunities on offense in the second half. Autumn Dougherty broke away from her defender in the 77th minute but the keeper scooped up her shot in the lower-left corner.
• In the 83rd minute, Kasey Lamb took a corner kick that landed right in the lap of Spears who knocked the ball into the lower right corner for the game-winner.

SALISBURY GAME NOTES

• Samantha Spears scored the lone goal for the Sea Gulls.
• Emma Hill earned the shutout win and recorded three saves in goal.
• Autumn Dougherty paced the offense with seven shots.
