BOX SCORE

 HOW IT HAPPENED

  • In the fifth minute, Salisbury's offense looked to set the tone for the game. After a Stockton foul, Salisbury earned a free-kick just outside the box. The ball was sent into the box by Brady Young and Ethan Dolezal headed the ball forward towards the goal. Sean Barwick, then slid towards the ball and poked it past the goalkeeper to give the Sea Gulls the early lead.
  • In the 14th minute, Stockton looked to answer the early Sea Gull goal. Joseph Carbone sent a pass over to Brendan Deal, who drove the ball into the back of the net to even the game at one.
  • The Sea Gulls offense had a prime opportunity to break the tie in the 32nd minute.  Beau Johnson passed the ball over to Ben Pigg, who sent a blistering strike from just outside the right side of the box into the back of the net to give the Sea Gulls the 2-1 lead.
  • Two minutes later, Pigg sent a beautiful pass into the box to Carter Chesney. Chesney, made a move to fool the Stockton goalkeeper and drove a low shot into the bottom right corner to extend the Sea Gull lead to 3-1 in the 35th minute.
  • The Salisbury defense held the Stockton offense in check for most of the second half, but Stockton had a great chance to trim the lead in the 86th minute. After a failed clear by the Sea Gull defense, Peter Kozlej sent a rocket of a shot towards the top right corner, but Ryan Socks made an unbelievable diving stop to hold off the final chance for Stockton.
