BOX SCORE

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • In the 16th minute, the Sea Gull offense looked to get on the board. After a header was won in midfield, the ball found Conner Appleby. Appleby then passed the ball over to Cullen Myers, who sent a strike into the bottom left corner to give the Sea Gulls the lead.
  • The Eagles looked to answer the early Sea Gull lead. In the 23rd minute, Carter Berg sent a pass over to Abel Lewis who sent a strike into the back of the net to tie the game at one.
  • In the 69th minute after some back and forth play Mary Washington looked to break the tie. Julian Schmugge, sent the ball towards the back-left corner but Ryan Socks made a spectacular diving save to keep the score tied.
  • Just two minutes into overtime, a turnover in the midfield put Salisbury on the counter-attack. Appleby's through ball found Myers on the far side of the box. Myers made a move on the defender and sent the golden goal into the net for the game-winner.
