ARLINGTON, Va. – The Salisbury University volleyball team got back on track in its Saturday afternoon tri-match, sweeping aside the St. Mary's (Md.) Seahawks 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-17) and knocking off the host Marymount (Va.) Saints 3-1 (25-21, 28-26, 18-25, 25-20) at Converse Family Fieldhouse.

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. ST. MARY'S

• After falling behind 4-2, the Sea Gulls took control of the first set and never looked back. Jenna Feinauer and Jackie Mitchell managed back-to-back kills to give Salisbury a 5-4 lead, then after an SU attack error Feinauer launched another kill and teamed up with Natalie Uibel for a block to make it 7-5.
• The Seahawks got another point on a Chanel Lucas kill, then Salisbury rattled off four in a row on a Feinauer kill, Angelina Casserly-Hannah Sullivan block, SMCM attack error and Uibel kill, forcing St. Mary's to take a timeout with SU on top 11-6.
• Salisbury's lead never shrunk to fewer than four for the rest of the set, and the Sea Gulls closed it on a 9-2 push that featured a pair of Feinauer kills and aces from Ella Franks and Kayla Pedersen. Uibel's kill sealed the deal at 25-14.
• Mitchell and Hannah Einbrod managed two kills each in a row to start SU off on a 4-0 push in the second set. With the Sea Gulls up 7-4 later on, Feinauer landed a kill and followed that up with an ace, then Sullivan's kill put the maroon and gold on top 10-4.
• The Seahawks clawed back and got within 14-13 after an attack error, but the Sea Gulls responded with four straight, capped by an ace from Franks that made it 18-13.
• Delaney Madsen's kill pushed the SU lead to 23-14. SMCM answered by scoring four of the next five points, but Casserly's kill handed the set to the Sea Gulls 25-18.
• The teams stayed knotted together early in the third set, with a Lizzie Spallitta kill for SMCM evening the score at 7-7. From there Salisbury locked in, notching three straight points on a service error, Sullivan kill and Brooke Young ace to make it 10-7 Sea Gulls.
• St. Mary's kept it close until the 15-13 mark when a bad Seahawk set led to kills from Uibel and Feinauer, upping the SU cushion to 18-13. Up 20-17 later on, Salisbury went on a tear to finish off the set and match. Einbrod and Mitchell combined for back-to-back kills, followed by a Uibel ace and Sullivan kill, and Uibel's second ace of the rally assured the sweep at 25-17.

SALISBURY GAME NOTES

• Jenna Feinauer rammed through a game-high 12 kills against just one error, swinging at a stellar .688 percentage. She also notched an ace and picked up two blocks, including one solo.
• Jackie Mitchell and Natalie Uibel pounded out six kills each, while Angelina Casserly and Hannah Sullivan each added five. Casserly swung at a .417 rate and didn't commit an error in 12 attacks.
• Ella Franks set up a season-high 23 assists, while Brooke Young added 10 helpers for an SU front line that attacked at a .295 clip.
• Darian DiMatteo led the Sea Gulls with 10 digs, with Young chipping in eight.
• Salisbury dropped 10 service aces in front of the Seahawks, including two each from Franks, Uibel and Young.

ST. MARY'S GAME NOTES

• Taylor Wigglesworth led the Seahawks with nine kills, while Meghan Stevens totaled seven kills of her own.
• Kyra Feinauer – sister to Salisbury's Jenna Feinauer – swatted six kills and combined on two blocks in the battle of siblings.
• Fatima Bouzid totaled 15 assists, with Nicole Gibson serving up eight.
• Alexandra Bradley's six digs rose to the top of the SMCM leaderboard.

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. MARYMOUNT

• The Sea Gulls opened their second match of the day on a 7-1 run, with Jackie Mitchell and Angelina Casserly capping the rally on back-to-back kills. Later on, Hannah Sullivan and Brooke Young notched two straight kills to rebuild the cushion to 12-5.
• The Saints responded with six of the next seven points, getting within 13-11 after an attack error that forced an SU timeout. MU eventually took an 18-17 advantage as Sydney Sands' kill gave the hosts their first lead of the opening set.
• Jenna Feinauer and Casserly answered with kills to recapture the lead for SU at 19-18. The teams traded points to get it to 20-20, at which point Natalie Uibel and Mitchell locked in for kills to make it 22-20 Sea Gulls. The Saints took one more point but Salisbury finished off the opening set on a Mitchell kill, bad set and Feinauer kill to make it 25-21 SU.
• A back-and-forth start to the second set saw Marymount take a 10-9 lead, but Sullivan's kill sparked a 5-0 Sea Gull run, with Feinauer's kill pushing the SU advantage to 14-10. Undeterred, the Saints eventually closed the gap to 17-16 on a kill from Kaitlyn Doyle.
• Two straight MU errors and a Young ace boosted the SU lead to 20-16, but Marymount answered with three straight of their own to get it to 20-19. The teams stayed neck-and-neck with ties at 21-21 through 24-24. Feinauer's kill gave SU set point at 25-24, but Doyle answered with back-to-back strikes to put Marymount in a position to win the set at 26-25.
• Uibel knotted proceedings at 26-26 with a kill, then Sullivan found the floor for a kill to make it 27-26 Sea Gulls. A Doyle attack error iced it for SU at 28-26, giving the Sea Gulls a commanding 2-0 lead.
• The third set started just as tight as the second, with the Sea Gulls responding to a 12-11 hole by notching three straight on a Casserly kill, Feinauer ace and Casserly-Sullivan block to make it 14-12 SU.
• Salisbury eventually held a 17-16 lead, at which point Marymount found a different gear and roared to a 9-1 set-clinching run. Caylee Shelton managed two straight kills to wrap up the MU set victory at 25-18.
• Set four began with another neck-and-neck start, with the teams trading points up to the 8-8 mark. At that point SU got the serve back on a service error, then Young responded with a service ace to make it 10-8 Sea Gulls.
• The middle portion of the set saw neither side grab decisive momentum, but Salisbury thwarted every Saint attempt to go on a big run. Leading 18-16, Sullivan's kill gave SU the serve back, at which point Uibel went off for three straight service aces, nudging the Sea Gull lead up to 22-16.
• With SU leading 23-17, the Saints rattled off three straight points, with a Maya Harris-Elissa Munsterman block closing the gap to 23-20. That's as close as it would get, though, as Mitchell's kill opened up match point for the Sea Gulls and a Doyle error finishing the job at 25-20.

SALISBURY GAME NOTES

• Jackie Mitchell pounded out a career-high 17 kills, swinging 45 times for a .222 attack percentage. She also totaled 12 digs for her second double-double.
• Jenna Feinauer and Natalie Uibel each reached double digit kills with 11 each. Feinauer also swatted four blocks, including one solo, and Uibel served up three aces and added four digs.
• Brooke Young and Ella Franks each snagged double-doubles from the setter position. Young led the way with 24 assists and 12 digs, while Franks added 19 assists with 13 digs.
• Darian DiMatteo managed 14 digs as part of a Sea Gull back line that saw four players reach double digit digs (Franks, Mitchell, Young).
• Salisbury is now 2-0 against Marymount this season; the Sea Gulls swept the Saints 3-0 in their season opener on Sept. 1. The teams will meet for a third time on Oct. 29 in Newport News, Va.

MARYMOUNT GAME NOTES

• Kaitlyn Doyle led the Saint attack with 13 kills, plus 11 digs. Elissa Munsterman also managed a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs.
• Sydney Sands gave MU three double-doubles on the day, totaling 31 assists and 10 digs.
• Natalie Garbalosa tallied a game-high 25 digs on the back line.

• The Sea Gulls return to Salisbury for their final home match of the season against conference rival Mary Washington on Saturday, Oct. 2.
