SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's soccer team were victims to a late penalty kick to drop an extremely tight game to the St. Mary's Seahawks, 1-0, on Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The first half was a defensive battle as both teams jockeyed for possession around the midfield. Salisbury had the offensive advantage, outshooting St. Mary's 8-3 in the half.
• The Sea Gulls closest opportunity came in the 20th minute, when Ally Goetz ripped a shot that beat the keeper but drilled the far post. Her teammate Autumn Dougherty was right there for the rebound and put it in the net, however she was called offsides to negate the goal.
• The lone goal in the game came after Ella Raines drew a foul from goalkeeper Emma Hill in the box. She took advantage of the penalty kick and drilled the game-winner with 12 minutes left to play.

SALISBURY GAMENOTES

• Goalkeeper Emma Hill recorded three saves to give her 116 saves in her career. This moves Hill to a tie for seventh all time in Salisbury history with Melissa Orgera '13
• Autumn Dougherty led the Sea Gulls with five shots.
• Salisbury outshot St. Mary's, 19-11.

ST. MARY'S GAME NOTES

• Emma Tawney recorded 10 saves to earn the shutout.
• Ella Raines scored the lone goal for the Seahawks
• Raines also lead the team with seven shots.
