SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury University men's soccer team dropped the first game of the Elmer Lord Memorial Tournament, 2-1, to the Roanoke Maroons on Saturday.

 HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Maroons got on the board first in the sixth minute when a Dylan Berk free kick went through the hands of the Salisbury keeper and was tapped in by Vincent Lamina.
• Salisbury answered back with a goal in the 12th minute, as Conner Appleby sent a pass right to Ethan Dolezal who sent a strike into the top left corner to tie the game at one.
• The two teams went back-and-forth throughout rest of the first half and the start of the second but a Salisbury foul in the 62nd minute gave Roanoke a free kick just outside the box. Berk sent the free kick in the box and Quinn Kunath got a head on it and sent it into the bottom right corner for the eventual game-winner.

 SALISBURY GAME NOTES

• The Sea Gulls tallied 13 shots with five on target.
• Ethan Dolezal netted the opening tally of the season for the Sea Gulls. He also recorded three shots with two on goal.
• Andrew Markiewicz and John Ford each registered a pair of shots.
• Ryan Miller drew the start in goal and collected five saves.
• Salisbury earned five corners in the game compared to Roanoke's two.

 ROANOKE GAME NOTES

• The Maroons notched nine shots in the win with five on net.
• Zach Behe had five saves for the Maroons.
• Vincent Lamina and Quinn Kunath scored the two goals for Roanoke.

 UP NEXT

• Salisbury concludes the Elmer Lord Tournament on Sunday against the Eastern Mennonite Royals.
• The final game of the weekend is set for 3 p.m. at the SU Soccer Complex.
