Women’s Soccer battles with No. 1 CNU

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's soccer team fell to Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) rival and top-ranked Christopher Newport Captains, 2-0, on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • CNU got on the board early after Emma Ricci scored off a bouncing ball from a corner kick in just the seventh minute.

  • The possession game continued in the second half. Autumn Dougherty found some room in front of the goal and ripped a shot in the 58th minute, but the Captains' keeper made a great diving save to keep their lead.
  • Molly Beagle converted a penalty kick in the 75th minute after she a drew a foul in the box to put CNU up 2-0.
  • Salisbury rallied to gain possession in the final few minutes, but the Captains defense held strong and the Sea Gulls were unable to get a shot off and the game ended with a final score of 2-0.
