Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Conway’s goal forces 2-2 tie with Mary Washington on Senior Day

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's soccer team battled with Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) rival, Mary Washington, to a 2-2 tie on Saturday afternoon for the team's Senior Day at Sea Gull Soccer Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Autumn Dougherty got the Sea Gulls going early after she used her speed to break away from her defenders toward the goal. She found a wide-open Ashley Pantano on the other side of the box who deposited her third goal of the year to make it 1-0 in just the second minute of the match.
  • Both defenses locked in for the rest of the first half and the teams went into halftime with that score.
  • Mary Washington tied the game in the 51st minute with a goal from Kaitlyn Venzen.
  • After some possession play, the Eagles broke the tie in the 70th minute with a goal from Savannah Alexander.
  • Salisbury responded by applying offensive pressure. In the 78th minute, Lissette Carneiro stroked a corner kick into the box and Autumn Conway used her height to perfectly knock the ball into the bottom right corner with her head and tie the game at two.
  • The Sea Gulls continued to pressure Mary Washington, and in the final minute of the game, Katy Poltrack had a solid look at the goal, but her shot was deflected just wide of the target and the game ended in a 2-2 draw.
