Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Offensive barrage leads Men's Soccer past Pratt, 8-0

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's soccer team saw seven different players score in a dominating offensive performance against the Pratt Cannoneers, defeating its Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) rival, 8-0, on Saturday afternoon at Sea Gull Soccer Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Sea Gull offense opened the game strong. In the third minute, Conner Appleby sent a long pass over to David Peters. Peters made a move past a Cannoneer defender and sent a shot into the bottom-left corner to give the Sea Gulls an early lead.
  • SU kept up the attack in the 11th minute. Appleby sent the corner kick into the box, where a waking Jacob Rarig headed it into the back of the net. The combo of Appleby to Rarig struck again just nine minutes later, as Rarig headed another corner kick from Appleby past the Pratt goalkeeper to put Salisbury up 3-0.
  • The Sea Gull offense continued to put the pressure on the Cannoneer defenders. After a long pass to the corner, in the 36th minute, Bret Dickens looked to make a move towards net. Dickens blew past the Pratt defender and had a one-on-one opportunity in front of the net. He then sent a blistering shot into the back of the net to push the Sea Gulls lead to 4-0.
  • Salisbury's attack did not stall in the second half. Brady Young received a pass into the box from Peters in the 52nd minute. Young ripped a shot off of the Pratt goalkeeper, but the rebound went straight to Sean Barwick, who tapped in the Sea Gulls' fifth goal of the game. Just a minute later, Appleby scored a goal of his own to push the Sea Gull lead to 6-0.
  • The Sea Gulls offense looked to capitalize again on another corner kick in the 60th minute. Ryan Kegley sent the corner into the box and Ethan Dolezal headed the ball top-shelf past the Pratt goalkeeper to give the Sea Gulls a 7-0 lead.
  • In the game's final minute after a Cannoneer foul in the box, Matthew Davicino scored on the penalty kick to give SU its winning 8-0 margin.
