Women’s Soccer shuts out Stevenson, 1-0

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's soccer team pitched a shutout over the Stevenson Mustangs, 1-0, on Tuesday afternoon in its final home match of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Salisbury dominated possession in the first half and applied pressure on the Stevenson defense early and often, outshooting the Mustangs 14-3 in the period.
  • In the 33rd minute of the match, Kasey Lamb used her speed to coast past her defenders and drop off a dime to Autumn Dougherty who was able to beat the keeper and put the Sea Gulls up 1-0.
  • Stevenson tried to get some momentum going early in the second half. Samantha Wilson drove a deep shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but Sea Gull keeper Riley Pinato was there in plenty of time to make the save.
  • Salisbury continued to take shots towards the Mustangs goal and had a great look in the 79th minute after a blocked shot from Dougherty landed right in front of Lauren Spelman who looked to score, but the Stevenson keeper made a diving save, and the game ultimately ended with a final score of 1-0.
