Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Holt caps off second-half comeback over Hood, 3-2

SALISBURY, Md. – Senior Kyla Holt scored in the 80th minute to cap off a late comeback for the Salisbury University women's soccer team, who picked up a 3-2 win over the Hood Blazers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Hood scored early after Priya Nair found the back of the net in just the third minute of the match.
  • In the 20th minute, the Sea Gulls drew a foul in the box. Lissette Carneiro converted the penalty kick to tie the game at one.
  • The Blazers pulled ahead in the 37th minute after Lauren Forgas scored to make it 2-1 going into halftime.
  • Salisbury applied the pressure in the second half and broke through the Hood defense in the 79th minute after Kristen Ging dropped a beautiful pass down to Autumn Dougherty, who ripped the ball past the diving keeper to tie the game at two.
  • Less than 20 seconds later, Kyla Holt sent a line shot from outside the box through the Blazers' defense and into the goal for the game-winner and secured the victory for the Sea Gulls.

SALISBURY GAME NOTES
  • Salisbury outshot Hood, 25-7, and put 12 shots on target compared to Hood's four.
  • The Sea Gulls took five corner kicks.
  • Kyla Holt scored her second game-winning goal of the season and led the team with five shots on target.
  • Kristen Ging tallied the lone assist for Salisbury.
  • Autumn Dougherty added a goal and led the team with eight shots, three of which were on target.
  • Riley Pinato earned the win and tallied two saves in goal.
HOOD GAME NOTES
  • Priya Nair scored a goal and led the team with two shots on target.
  • Lauren Forgas scored off the bench.
  • Brenna Ellenberger got the start and tallied nine saves in goal.
UP NEXT
  • Salisbury will open up Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference play on Saturday, Oct. 8 against Mary Washington.
  • Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Fredericksburg, Va.
