Men’s Basketball falls to No. 10 Johns Hopkins, 67-53

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury Men's Basketball team fell to the No. 10 Johns Hopkins Blue Jays, 67-53, on Saturday night at Maggs Physical Activities Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Salisbury jumped out to a quick 5-2 lead after Brandon Craig made an easy layup followed by a Sean Carr three-pointer on the next possession.
  • Both teams went back-and-forth knocking down shots for the next several minutes.
  • Down 16-12 with just over 10 minutes left in the first half, the Sea Gulls went on an 8-0 run capped off by a steal by Brendan Davis and a bucket from Greg Bloodsworth to take a 20-16 lead.
  • Hopkins battled back and tied the game at 23 with 3:41 on the clock. The Blue Jays closed out the half on an 8-3 run and led the Sea Gulls at the break, 31-26.
  • Craig hit a jumper to start out the second half for Salisbury, but Hopkins responded with a 10-2 run to go up 41-30, with 15:39 left to play.
  • The Sea Gulls answered with back-to-back threes from Carr and Cameron Heard to cut into the lead.
  • The teams battled back-and-forth in the final minutes of the game, but the deficit was too large for Salisbury to overcome and the game finished with a final score of 67-53.
SALISBURY GAME NOTES
  • Salisbury shot 35.6 percent (21-for-59) from the floor.
  • Brandon Craig led the Sea Gulls with a game-high 17 points on 8-for-13 shooting. He also added seven rebounds to his line.
  • Greg Bloodsworth scored 10 points and dished out three assists.
  • Sean Carr and Jordan Oates each scored eight points. Oates also grabbed seven board and dished out three assists.
JOHNS HOPKINS GAME NOTES
  • Hopkins shot 50.9 percent (29-for-57) from the floor.
  • John Windley led the Blue Jays with 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting.
  • James Carson scored 13 points.
  • Tom Quarry scored 11 points and grabbed a game-high eight boards.
UP NEXT
  • Salisbury will travel to Frederick, Md. to take on Hood College on Wednesday night.
  • Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at BB&T Arena.
