Bloodsworth, Craig fuel second-half comeback to down Hood, 82-71, in overtime

FREDERICK, Md. – Salisbury University fifth-year seniors Greg Bloodsworth and Brandon Craig combined for 60 points as the Sea Gulls erased a 17-point first-half deficit to storm back and take an 82-71 road overtime victory over the Hood Blazers on Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Both teams started the match trading baskets for the first several minutes. With a one-point lead halfway through the first half, Hood went on an 11-0 run to go up 28-16 before Greg Bloodsworth stifled the run with a three-point shot.
  • The Blazers answered and jumped out to a 38-23 lead after Soren Almquist knocked down his free throws with just under three minutes left in the half.
  • Bloodsworth drilled back-to-back threes and Brandon Craig added a jumper to cut into the lead, but Hood hit a three in the final minute to send the teams into halftime with a score of 44-31.
  • Both teams went back-and-forth shooting to begin the second half.
  • Down 54-45 with 12 minutes to go, Salisbury came storming back. An Andrew Silver steal led to a Bloodsworth bucket that sparked an 8-0 run for the Sea Gulls to bring the game within one.
  • Cameron Heard hit a deep three to give Salisbury its first lead since the opening moments of the first half, 60-59, with just over four minutes left in regulation.
  • The teams went back-and-forth again over the next few minutes. Jevon Yarbough made both of his free throws with 31 seconds left to give Hood a 69-66 lead.
  • Coming out of a timeout, Bloodsworth looked to tie the game, but instead dished it out to Brendan Davis on the wing. Davis faked a shot, side-stepped and drilled a three to tie the game at 69 with just 13 seconds left on the clock. The Blazers were able to get a shot off but it banged off the front iron and the teams went to overtime.
  • Craig broke the tie on a second-chance tip-in layup for Salisbury and Bloodsworth followed up with a jumper. That would be all the Sea Gulls needed as the team only allowed two free throws the entire overtime period and finished the game on a 13-2 run to win 82-71.
