Box Score BRADENTON, Fla. – The top-ranked Salisbury University women's lacrosse team took care of business during its spring break trip to Bradenton, Fla. as the Sea Gulls demolished the No. 4/7 William Smith Herons, 18-6, on Tuesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Salisbury started the first quarter on a 3-0 run after Delaney Hill converted on the first free position shot of the day at the 12:28 mark of the first followed by back-to-back Emma Skoglund assists to teammates Leah Vilov and Lily Cavallaro.
- William Smith responded with a quick two-goal run of its own after Payton McMahon scored two goals in the final five minutes of the quarter.
- Following McMahon's second goal, Lydia McNulty converted a free position shot with 25 seconds left in the quarter to put Salisbury up 4-2.
- Skoglund won the ensuing draw control and with the clock winding down, McNulty weaved her way through the defense to notch her second goal of the day and put the Sea Gulls up 5-2 after the first quarter.
- The second quarter was dominated by Salisbury. The Sea Gulls scored five unanswered in the period to extend their seven-goal run and push the lead to 10-2.
- The run was highlighted by two more goals and one assist from McNulty. Erin Scannell, Anna Robinson and Meridith Price each added a goal.
- The Herons did not back down and responded to the Sea Gulls run with a 3-0 run four minutes into the second half to cut the lead to 10-5.
- Salisbury dominated the rest of the quarter with a six-goal flurry that saw Scannell tally four more goals during the run.
- After both teams traded shots and possessions to start the fourth, William Smith stifled the Sea Gulls run after Kaitlin Pellechia found open space in front of the goal to make it 16-6 with 10:21 left to play.
- Salisbury tallied two more scores in the fourth by Becca Puente and Abby Lantos to give the game its final score of 18-6.
SALISBURY GAME NOTES
- Erin Scannell finished with a game-high five goals on eight shots. She also scooped up two ground balls and caused a turnover.
- Lydia McNulty scored four goals and dished out an assist. She also scooped up two ground balls.
- Emma Skoglund tallied four points with one goal and a game-high three assists.
- Leah Vilov scored twice, had one ground ball and one caused turnover.
- Anna Robinson scored a goal and tallied an assist. She also scooped up a game-high four ground balls.
- Caroline McKenna scooped up two ground balls and caused a game-high two turnovers.
- Mary Claire Hisle earned the win in goal and tallied nine saves on 15 shots faced.
WILLIAM SMITH GAME NOTES
- Payton McMahon recorded a hat trick for the Herons.
- Allie McGinty had the lone assist.
- Maura Smeader earned the start in goal and tallied six saves on 22 shots faced.
UP NEXT
- Salisbury heads back north to Maryland to take on the ninth-ranked Colby Mules on Saturday, March 26 at the USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks.
- The contest is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. at William G. Tierney Field.
