No 1/2 Men's Lacrosse dominates Whittier, 25-5

SALISBURY, Md. – The No. 1/2 Salisbury University men's lacrosse team rolled to its 10th win in a row with a 25-5 win over the Whittier Poets on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Poets started the game on the attack with a goal from Alex Coco in the second minute to give Whittier an early 1-0 lead.
  • Just over a minute later the Sea Gulls tied the game at one with a goal by Cross Ferrara, from Jackson Woodward. The Sea Gulls then continued its run with two Jarrett Bromwell goals and another from Ferrara to end the first quarter up, 4-1.
  • The Sea Gulls continued the momentum and capped the six-goal run in the second quarter with goals from Bromwell and Logan Posner to push the lead to 6-1.
  • After the Poets notched its second goal midway through the second, the Sea Gull offense went back to work with a four-goal run that was highlighted by an Isaac Thrasher goal, by Jack Dowd to give the Sea Gulls a 10-2 lead in the closing moments of the half.
  • The Poets took some momentum into the half with a man-up goal from Ike Eastburn with just 17 seconds to go before the break to trim the Sea Gull lead to 10-3.
  • The third quarter was all Sea Gulls as the maroon and gold poured on nine goals to extend the lead to 19-3. The scoring was highlighted by Ferrara's three goals and a goal from Braden Glushakow.
  • The Sea Gulls continued their run into the fourth with a man-up goal by Bromwell and a Charlie White goal to cap an 11-0 run early in the fourth and push the advantage up to 21-3.
  • The Poets added two more goals in the fourth from Ronan Dooney and Brayden Legette.
  • The Sea Gulls finished out the scoring with a goal from Simba Makawa in the final four minutes of the contest.

  • Ronan Dooney led the Poets with a goal and an assist.
  • Joshua Peavey went 11-of-16 in faceoffs with three ground balls.
  • Segei Jacobs scooped up a game-high eight ground balls.
  • Kale Lanza caused a team-high two turnovers.
  • Drew Low recorded 13 saves.

UP NEXT

  • Salisbury hosts the No. 18 Stevenson Mustangs under the lights at Sea Gull Stadium on Wednesday, March 30.
  • Opening faceoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with coverage on the Sea Gull Sports Network (SGSN) beginning at 6:45 a.m.
