Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer begins 2022 with 1-0 shutout over Farmingdale St.

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's soccer teams opened up the 2022 season with a 1-0 shutout of the visiting Farmingdale St. Rams on Thursday afternoon at Sea Gull Soccer Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Salisbury controlled possession to begin the game and was able to fire off quality shots from both Kyla Holt and Autumn Dougherty.
  • In the 13th minute of the match, Dougherty broke off from her defender and found Holt on a cross who netted the first goal of the season for the Sea Gulls to give them the early 1-0 lead.
  • Salisbury continued to add pressure onto Farmingdale's defense in the first half, including a shot by Alex Jankowski in the 42nd minute that was just inches from sniping the top right corner.
  • The Sea Gulls did not let up in the second half and outshot the Rams 15-2 in the period.
  • The best look for Salisbury came in the 88th minute. Kristen Ging had broken free from her defender and ripped a shot that Farmingdale goalkeeper Chloe Kensell was just able to get an outstretched glove on to ricochet the ball off the side bar of the goal.
  • Salisbury corralled the ball for the closing minute and the game finished with a final score of 1-0.
