ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's soccer team took down the second-ranked TCNJ Lions, 3-2, on Saturday to open the Seahawk Classic at St. Mary's.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • TCNJ threatened early after they drew a foul in the box to earn a penalty kick in just the 15th minute. Riley Pinato came up with a big save for Salisbury to keep the match scoreless.
  • A minute after, Autumn Conway took advantage of a pass from Kyla Holt in front the goal and deposited the ball into the bottom right corner to give the Sea Gulls the early lead.
  • Just 30 seconds later, TCNJ forward, Lindsay O'Keefe, drew another foul in the box for the Lions and was awarded a penalty kick, which she converted to knot the game at 1-1.
  • For the next 30 minutes, both teams jostled for possession back-and-forth until the 45th minute. Olivia Pasko drew a foul in the box to give the Sea Gulls a penalty kick. Tori Pietuszka converted the attempt to give Salisbury the 2-1 lead at the half.
  • After halftime, Kristen Ging intercepted an errant touch from her defender and beat the goalie one-on-one to extend the Sea Gull lead to 3-1 in the 53rd minute.
  • TCNJ tallied a score from Emma Pascarella in the 70th minute to bring the Lions within one, 3-2.
