Dolezal scores to conclude Seahawk Classic against TCNJ

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to the TCNJ Lions on Sunday to conclude the Seahawk Classic at St. Mary's.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Lions scored first at the four-minute mark of the opening stanza. Daniel Grund's left-footed shot curled into the net for the opening goal of the game.
  • The Sea Gulls tied the contest in the 11th minute. A foul just outside to box led to a free kick. A frozen rope on the free kick by Ethan Dolezal evened the score at one.
  • TCNJ regained the lead in the 23rd minute on a Massimo Rodio goal on a Grund assist.
  • Two minute later, TCNJ got a foul in the box and Bobby Hunter converted the penalty kick for the insurance goal.
SALISBURY GAME NOTES
  • Salisbury tallied 10 shots with four on target.
  • Ethan Dolezal scored his first goal of the season. Dolezel recorded four shots in the game.
  • Skyler McCarthy made a save in goal for the Sea Gulls.
TCNJ GAME NOTES
  • The Salisbury defense limited TCNJ to only eight shots.
  • Daniel Grund, Massimo Rodio and Bobby Hunter all scored for the Lions.
  • Julian Franco made three saves in net for the Lions.
UP NEXT
  • The Sea Gulls continue the road trip on Saturday, Sept. 17 against the fifth-ranked Messiah Falcons.
  • The match is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start in Grantham, Pa.
