SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Salisbury University football team picked up its second shutout of the season with a 35-0 victory over the Western New England Golden Bears on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Quarter
  • Western New England was driving on its opening possession of the game. A.J. Butler ended the early WNE threat with an interception.
  • Salisbury capitalized on the Butler interception with a methodical 16-play, 81-yard drive that took seven-plus minutes off the clock. The drive was capped off by a Jaden Davis 14-yard touchdown run to give SU the 7-0 lead.
Second Quarter
  • Joey Bildstein busted up through the WNE defense for a 55-yard touchdown on the opening play of the second quarter to double SU's lead, 14-0.
  • A turnover on downs by WNE and long runs by Davis, Bildstein and Diego Mendez set up a Dario Belizaire nine-yard touchdown run with six minutes left in the first half and pushed Salisbury's lead to 21-0.
Third Quarter
  • A good Alex Richards return into WNE territory gave Salisbury good field position on its first drive of the second half. Bildstein bulldozed his way to his second touchdown of the day on a 12-yard run to extend the lead to 28-0.
Fourth Quarter
  • Hunter Hruz tallied Salisbury's final points of the game on a one-yard touchdown run with four minutes to go in the game.
