Women’s Soccer sinks St. Mary’s, 2-0

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Senior forward Autumn Dougherty and strong defense propelled the Salisbury University women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over the St. Mary's Seahawks on the road Wednesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Salisbury applied the pressure in the first half. The Sea Gulls dominated possession and outshot St. Mary's, 14-2, in the opening period.
  • Salisbury had a solid look at the net in the 20th minute after Autumn Dougherty slipped a through ball to Alex Jankowski who proceeded to rip a one-timer, but the Seahawks keeper made the diving save.
  • The Sea Gulls continued to take shots throughout the half, but would head into halftime with the match knotted at zero.
  • In the 54th minute, Dougherty stole the ball from the defense and dribbled her way to the box where she nailed the ball into the back of the net to give Salisbury the one-goal advantage.
  • Dougherty struck again in the 76th minute, this time on a perfect one-timer from Jankowski to provide insurance and secure the victory for the Sea Gulls.
