Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer falls to Randolph-Macon, 3-1

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's soccer team fell to the Randolph-Macon Yellowjackets, 3-1, on Sunday in its final game of the Seahawk Classic at St. Mary's.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Both teams jostled for possession to begin the first half. Randolph-Macon struck first in the 35th minute when Olivia Owens found the back of the net to give the Yellowjackets a 1-0 lead.
  • In the final minute of the half, Leah Conrad found Owens on a cross who scored her second goal of the day give Randolph-Macon a two-goal lead going into halftime.
  • In the 65th minute, Alex Jankowski beat her defender and ripped a shot past the keeper to cut into the lead and put Salisbury on the board.
  • Riley Russ tacked on another goal for the Yellow Jackets in the 77th minute.
  • The Sea Gulls looked to strike back late in the match, Olivia Pasko found some open space in the 86th minute but the keeper had a track on her shot and made a save to preserve the R-MC lead and the match ended with a score of 3-1.
SALISBURY GAME NOTES
  • Alex Jankowski scored the lone goal for the Sea Gulls, the first of her collegiate career.
  • Riley Pinato tallied four saves in goal.
RANDOLPH-MACON GAME NOTES
  • Randolph-Macon outshot Salisbury, 16-12.
  • Olivia Owens tallied two goals.
  • Abby Cook tallied two saves in goal.
UP NEXT
  • Salisbury will travel north to Pennsylvania to take on the York Spartans on Wednesday, Sept. 7.
  • Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Graham Field.
