Women’s Swimming sets new program-high win mark in Senior Day sweep of St. Mary’s

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's swimming team clinched its most wins in program history with a 222-35 Senior Day win over the St. Mary's Seahawks on Saturday. The eight wins in a season beat the previous program-high of seven wins, which took place three times in the 2000-01, 2004-05 and 2008-09 seasons.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
  • The Sea Gulls recorded 14 first-place efforts, including 12 individual golds and wins in the 200-yard medley and the 200-yard free relays.
  • Alexa Hilty and Olivia Totaro each finished the meet with three individual wins. Hilty swept the individual freestyle races with wins in the 50 (28.54), 100 (1:03.77) and 200 frees (2:18.47). Totaro touched the wall first in the 400 free (4:50.48), 200 fly (2:37.39) and 200 IM (2:38.19).
  • Morgan Adams earned golds in the 100 (1:10.95) and 200 back (2:34.58). Adams also added a silver finish in the 100 fly (1:10.83).
  • Anna Jayjack, Samantha Watson and Nicole Chiricos each finished the meet with a first and second-place finish. Jayjack won the 100 fly with a personal-best time of 1:10.16 and finished second in the 50 free (28.91). Watson touched the wall first in the 100 breast (1:20.34) and placed second in the 200 IM (2:42.04). Chiricos earned gold in the 200 breast with a personal-best mark of 2:59.66 and a silver in the 100 breast (1:24.44).
  • 13 other swimmers placed at least once in individual races.
 
UP NEXT
  • The Sea Gulls will now prepare for the four-day Metropolitan Swimming Conference Championships, which will begin on Thursday, Feb. 16.
  • The meet will take place at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J.
