Men’s Basketball routs Cabrini, 80-59

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's basketball team cruised to its fourth straight win after an 80-59 victory over the Cabrini Cavaliers on Saturday night at Maggs PAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • With a five-point lead, 9-4, just over three minutes into the matchup, Salisbury went on a 14-2 run capped off by a tough layup by Ryan Marshall to go up 23-7 with 12 minutes left in the half.
  • Cabrini answered with a 12-3 run to cut into the lead, 26-19, with 8:03 on the clock.
  • Both teams went back-and-forth for the next several minutes before Greg Bloodsworth knocked down three shots on three straight possessions to extend the Sea Gulls lead back out to 15, 40-25 with 1:41 left to play in the first half.
  • Malik Bailey made a layup in the closing moments of the half for the Cavaliers to send the teams into halftime with a score of 42-28.
  • Salisbury used a quick 5-0 run capped off by a Jordan Oates triple to go up 45-25 just two minutes into the second half.
  • After some more back-and-forth, Cabrini used a 5-0 run of its own to bring the lead down to 13, 54-41 with just under 11 minutes left to play.
  • Salisbury responded with a basket from Brendan Davis and a trey from Kaiden Mines to stifle the run.
  • A few minutes later, Donoven Mack drilled a deep three to bring the Cavaliers within 12, 66-44, with 5:45 on the clock.
  • The Sea Gulls closed out the game on a 14-5 run capped off by a mid-range jumper by Andrew Silver to give the game its final score of 80-59.
SALISBURY GAME NOTES
  • Salisbury shot 49.3 percent (33-for-67) from the field, including 36.4 percent (8-for-22) from beyond the arc.
  • Greg Bloodsworth led the Sea Gulls with a game-high 22 points on 9-for-13 shooting. He also dished out a team-high five assists and grabbed three boards.
  • Jordan Oates collected his third consecutive double-double after he scored 14 points and hauled in a game-high 15 rebounds.
  • Brendan Davis added 12 points off the bench on 5-for-9 shooting, including 2-for-3 from deep. He also dished out four assists and had three rebounds.
  • Salisbury dominated the battle on the glass and outrebounded Cabrini, 46-30, including 11-6 on the offensive end.
CABRINI GAME NOTES
  • Cabrini shot 33.3 percent (19-for-57) from the field, including 25 percent (6-for-24) from three-point range.
  • Ryan Byars scored a team-high 13 points. He also grabbed six rebounds.
  • Aquil Stewart scored 11 points and dished out a game-high seven assists.
  • Malik Bailey scored nine points and grabbed nine boards.
UP NEXT
  • Salisbury will hit the road to take on Washington Adventist on Wednesday, Jan. 11.
  • Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Takoma Park, Md.
