Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer bombards Marymount (Va.), 2-0

ARLINGTON, Va. – Autumn Conway gave Salisbury the lead in the first half from an assist by Ashley Pantano, and Alex Jankowski provided some insurance late in the second half thanks to an assist by Conway as the Salisbury University women's soccer team defeated the Marymount (Va.) Saints, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at Long Bridge Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The opening half hour of the contest did not see much action but did see Salisbury control much of the possession. The Sea Gulls broke through the Saints defense in the 31st minute when a defensive miscue following a ball played in by Ashley Pantano allowed Autumn Conway to bury a shot into the back of the open Marymount goal to give Salisbury a 1-0 lead.
  • Salisbury's offense proceeded to bombard Marymount during the final 15 minutes of the first half, taking five shots on goal. Hannah Mockenhaupt, the Saints' goalkeeper, managed to save all five shots to close out the half.
  • The second half started much like how the first half ended as the Sea Gulls continuously attacked the Saints' defense.
  • The déjà vu did not end there, as nearly 30 minutes into the second half Conway played a ball into the box to Alex Jankowski, who launched a shot by Mockenhaupt to give Salisbury a 2-0 cushion.
  • Marymount could not issue a response to the Sea Gulls, mustering just one shot following Jankowski's goal as Minnie Morris' attempt was saved by Riley Pinato.
  • The Sea Gulls continued to pressure the Saints despite having a 2-0 lead as the last shot of the contest came in the 89th minute when a Kristen Ging attempt went high of the goal.
