Pinato's career day against McDaniel extends unbeaten run for Women's Soccer

WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Salisbury University women's soccer team extended its unbeaten run to six-in-a-row on Tuesday evening against the McDaniel Green Terror, taking advantage of a career-high nine saves from Riley Pinato to depart with a 0-0 draw.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Sea Gulls found the first shot of the match in the 12th minute, a strike from Ashley Pantano that was blocked, but McDaniel fired the next five shots of the match stretching through the 31st minute. Riley Pinato made a pair of saves in that stretch to help keep the scoreboard blank.
  • Lauren Spelman found a chance in the 39th minute, a low-middle look that forced a save. The hosts responded with a pair of looks on goal in the waning minutes of the first half, but Pinato handled both to maintain the tie.
  • McDaniel controlled the pace out of intermission, holding the Sea Gulls without a shot for over 25 minutes to open the second period. In that span, Pinato absorbed a trio of Green Terror looks to hold the 0-0 score.
  • Salisbury outshot McDaniel 4-2 from the 73rd minute on, with Alex Jankowski forcing a save in the 73rd minute and finding the post in the 82nd. The Green Terror mustered their last attempt with 28 seconds left in the contest, a low-left look that Pinato snatched up for her career-best ninth save to conclude the contest.
