Men’s Soccer drops road battle with No. 2 Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Salisbury University men's soccer team fell by a 5-0 score to the second-ranked University of Mary Washington Eagles on Saturday afternoon at the Battleground Athletic Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Each side took their first shot of the game in the opening 10 minutes. The hosts saw their first look blocked in the fourth minute, while Brady Young collected the first Salisbury shot in the 10th.
  • Neither side could find their footing on attack in the opening period. UMW outshot the Sea Gulls 6-4 in the half, but the sides remained scoreless at the intermission.
  • The UMW attack could not be held down in the second, collecting four goals in a 10-minute stretch from the 54th minute to the 64th minute. The Eagles added a goal at the buzzer, setting the final at 5-0.
SALISBURY GAME NOTES
  • Gabe Glikin, Dale Gordon, and Jake Trama each put a shot on goal in the loss.
  • Mason Jones played the full 90 minutes and made three saves in the loss.
  • Salisbury was outshot 20-7, putting three on goal with one corner.
  • Brady Young was tagged with a yellow card in the 38th minute. Liam Pierce received a caution in the 38th as well, while Jacob Rarig saw yellow in the 77th minute.
MARY WASHINGTON GAME NOTES
  • Five different Eagles scored in the win.
  • Carter Berg tallied three assists for the Eagles.
  • Freddy Rogers played 77:41 in goal with three saves. Tristan Kickbush relieved Rogers, playing the final 12:19 in goal.
  • The Eagles put eight of their 20 shots on target with eight corners.
  • Joel Albritton was shown a yellow card in the 37th minute.
UP NEXT
  • The Sea Gulls conclude the regular season on the road on Wednesday, Oct. 25 battling the Red Devils of Dickinson College.
  • Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. from Carlisle, Pa.
