Alex Jankowski late in the second half to push the Salisbury University women's soccer team ahead of the Farmingdale State Rams, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon at Rams Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first half saw the two defenses battle it out, with only seven total shots being taken in the half. Ryan Turselino took the first shot of the contest in the fifth minute, and her Rams counterpart Mikayla Spiering took FSU's first shot just a minute later, forcing Riley Pinato to make a save.
- Farmingdale State took four more shots over the next 12 minutes, unable to get one by Pinato. The last shot of the half came with just under 15 minutes left as an Ashley Pantano attempt was saved by Gabby Pinero.
- The second half seemed poised to be identical to the first until Ava Wheeler was able to score on the Rams in the 82nd minute thanks to a ball played by Alex Jankowski, giving the Sea Gulls a 1-0 lead.
- The Sea Gull defense settled in from there and kept the Rams from taking another shot to sew up the victory.
