Men’s Basketball concludes regular season at Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Salisbury University men's basketball team fell to the Mary Washington Eagles, 60-46, in its regular-season finale on the road on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Mary Washington started the game on a 10-4 run over the first six minutes of the game.
  • The Sea Gulls took the lead, 11-10, after Sean Carr converted his and-one attempt at the 10:36 mark.
  • Both teams battled back-and-forth for the next several minutes. A triple from Cameron Heard brought Salisbury back within one, 17-16, with five minutes left in the first.
  • The Eagles closed out the half on another 10-4 run to send the teams into halftime with a 27-20 score.
  • Mary Washington scored 13 unanswered points to begin the second half before Brendan Davis knocked down a three-point jumper for the Sea Gulls at the 14:44 mark to make it 40-25.
  • With just under nine minutes left to play, the Eagles had its largest lead of the day, 59-29.
  • Salisbury held Mary Washington to just one point the rest of the way and closed the game out on a 17-1 run, but the lead was too much to overcome and the game finished with a final score of 60-46.
SALISBURY GAME NOTES
  • Salisbury shot 35.3 percent (18-for-51) from the field, including 33.3 percent (6-for-18) from three-point range.
  • Sean Carr led the Sea Gulls with eight points.
  • Brendan Davis scored seven points and grabbed four rebounds.
  • Brandon Craig scored six points and hauled in seven boards.
MARY WASHINGTON GAME NOTES
  • Mary Washington shot 41.2 percent (21-for-51) from the field, including 32.3 percent (10-for-31) from beyond the arc.
  • Dashawn Cook scored a game-high 21 points.
  • Greg Rowson scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds.
  • Dorian Davis chipped in 11 points off the bench.
UP NEXT
  • The Sea Gulls await final seeding for the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Tournament, which will be hosted by UC Santa Cruz.
  • The tournament is scheduled to begin on Thursday, Feb. 23 with the championship game on Saturday, Feb. 25.
