No. 2 Men’s Lacrosse begins 2023 with 20-6 victory over Berry

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The second-ranked Salisbury University men's lacrosse team kicked off the 2023 season in a big way with a 20-6 victory over the Berry (Ga.) Vikings on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Cross Ferrara began his 2023 campaign in a major way, being involved in four of Salisbury's first five goals of the season to help the team jump out to an early 6-0 lead in the first quarter. Ferrara and Jude Brown teamed up for the first two goals of the game a minute apart five minutes into the contest.
  • Joe Carozza closed out the 6-0 first-quarter run for Salisbury off an assist from Brown.
  • After Berry opened the second quarter with its first goal of the contest, Ham McPartland responded six seconds later with a goal of his own in the opening minute of the second.
  • Salisbury closed out the first half with a 10-4 lead on Berry.
  • Berry trimmed the Salisbury lead to four, 10-6 at the start of the second half but Salisbury pulled away with 10 unanswered goals, including seven in the final quarter.
  • Ferrara and Luke Nestor each tallied three goals during the second-half run to close out the game.
SALISBURY GAME NOTES BERRY GAME NOTES
  • Ethan Perlakowski led the Vikings with three goals.
  • Nick English controlled the faceoff circle with 18-of-30 wins at the X with 12 ground balls.
  • Rob Maraski had 14 saves in net for Berry.
UP NEXT
  • Salisbury will host the 19th-ranked Roanoke Maroons on Saturday, Feb. 11.
  • The game is part of a doubleheader with the SU women. Opening faceoff is scheduled to take place at 2:30 p.m. at Sea Gull Stadium.
