Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Strong first half carries No. 2 Men’s Lacrosse past No. 15 Cabrini, 14-7

SALISBURY, Md.  – The second-ranked Salisbury University men's lacrosse used an 11-goal first half on the way to a 14-7 win over the 15th-ranked Cabrini Cavaliers on Friday night at Sea Gull Stadium.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Sea Gull offense got an early two-goal lead with a man-up goal from Cross Ferrara and a goal from Isaac Thrasher from Jude Brown four minutes into the game.
  • The Cavaliers answered back with a goal from Dillan McManus just six seconds after the Thrasher goal.
  • Salisbury then finished the first quarter with a three-goal run that started with a coast-to-coast strike from Thomas Ballard to give the Sea Gulls a 5-1 lead.
  • The SU offense exploded in the second, scoring all six of the game's second-quarter goals to take an 11-1 lead at the half. Joe Carozza led the run with two goals, both assisted by Brown.
  • The Cavaliers would not go down without a fight, though. Cabrini opened the second half with a six-goal run led by two Tommy Vaughan tallies to reduce the Sea Gulls lead to 11-6 with two minutes remaining in the third.
  • With a minute remaining in the third, Jack Dowd scored his second goal of the game to push the Sea Gulls lead back to six, 12-6, entering the fourth quarter.
  • After a defensive start to the fourth, Cabrini added a goal from Connor Herraiz to reduce the deficit back to five with just under seven minutes remaining.
  • The Sea Gull offense woke up and added goals from from Thrasher and Bromwell to push the final score to 14-7.
 
SALISBURY GAME NOTES
  • Jude Brown led the Sea Gulls offense with five assists.
  • Isaac Thrasher tallied a hat-trick with a team-high three goals.
  • Jack Dowd and Brice Bromwell each finished with two goals and an assist.
  • The Sea Gulls finished 12-of-25 in faceoffs. Blake Malamphy finished 9-of-16 from the faceoff X with seven ground balls. Mackenzie Moreland added in two faceoff wins with a ground ball.   
  • Thomas Ballard caused a career-high five turnovers, added two ground balls, and scored a goal.
  • Zach Timmons caused three Cavalier errors and scooped up three ground balls.
  • Nicholas Ransom earned the win in net and recorded 14 saves.  
 
CABRINI GAME NOTES
  • Dillon McManus and Connor Herraiz led the Cavalier offense with three points each. McManus tallied a hat-trick and Herraiz scored a goal and added two assists.
  • Tommy Vaughan added in two goals.
  • Cabrini went 13-of-25 in faceoffs. Sam Ditrolio finished 13-of-23 at the X with a game-high nine ground balls.
  • Peter Hewitt led the Cavalier defense with three caused turnovers and six ground balls.
  • Connor Watts started in net for the Cavaliers and recorded five saves. Chris Porzelt also earned time in net and recorded five saves.

  • Salisbury hosts Coastal Lacrosse Conference (CLC) rival Kean University on Sunday for Senior Day.
  • Opening faceoff from Sea Gull Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m. with Senior Day celebrations beginning at 12:35 p.m.
