SALISBURY, Md. – The second-ranked Salisbury University men's lacrosse team honored its 13 seniors with a 21-7 win over the Kean Cougars on Sunday in Coastal Lacrosse Conference (CLC) action. With the win, the Sea Gulls locked up the top seed and hosting rights for the CLC Semifinals on May 5 and CLC Championship on May 7.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Salisbury started the first quarter on fire with seven unanswered goals in the quarter. Jack Dowd got the scoring started in the game's first minute. Dowd and Luke Nestor scored two goals during the run to allow the Sea Gulls to take a 7-0 lead in the first.
- The Sea Gulls continued the momentum into the second quarter with a two-goal run led by an unassisted Cross Ferrara goal and Dowd's hat trick to push the lead to 9-0.
- The Cougars got on the board midway through the second quarter with a Nick Thorne goal before the Sea Gulls went back-to-work with a three-goal run started by Riley Strub's goal at the 6:31 mark and bookended by a Blake Malamphy goal that gave the Sea Gulls a 12-1 lead.
- The Cougars gained some momentum with two goals before the half by Tommy Pellegrino and Anton Updale to make the score 12-3 at the half.
- The two teams traded goals to start the second half before the Sea Gull offense closed out the third quarter on another 3-0 run with two goals by Ferrara and Evan Huffman's first career goal to extend the lead to 17-5 at the end of three quarters.
- Isaac Thrasher started the fourth-quarter scoring before the Cougars added two goals led by a Jonathon Slusser goal to drop the deficit to 11, 18-7.
- The Sea Gulls finished the game on a three-goal run that started with a goal from Josh Rotman and ended with a Brayden Velasquez goal to put the final score at 21-7.

KEAN GAME NOTES
- Dylan Johnson led the Cougars with three points on two goals and an assist.
- Nick Thorne and Tommy Pellegrino each added a goal and an assist.
- Kean went 7-of-31 in faceoffs. Max Stevens finished 4-of-28 at the X with a ground ball. Nick Moffa added in three faceoff wins with a ground ball.
- Tyler Nolan led the Cougar defense with a caused turnover and three ground balls.
- Devin Reppert started in net for the Cougars and recorded three saves. Nick Paterno played the second half in the cage and recorded five saves.

- Salisbury closes out the home regular season schedule on Wednesday, April 26 against the Catholic Cardinals.
- Opening faceoff from Sea Gull Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m.
