Emma Skoglund earned second-team honors, sophomore defender
Natalie Held received third-team honors, while senior midfielder
Riley Hartman, senior goalkeeper
Kaitlyn Hunsinger and junior midfielder
Leah Vilov were tabbed honorable mention.
Skoglund earned Second Team All-American status after she led the Sea Gull offense all season long. She leads the team in points (54) and goals (34) and is second on the team in assists (20). Skoglund became just the 10th Sea Gull in program history to eclipse the 200-point mark in their career and her 214 career points currently sits eighth all-time in Salisbury history. Her 164 career goals are also good for fourth all-time in program history.
The 2023 Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Defensive Player of the Year adds to her postseason accolades with a Third Team All-American award. Held was tasked with guarding some of the best offensive players in the country. She leads the team in caused turnovers with 25 and is second in the team in ground balls with 23. Held also played a major role in the team's draw and has collected a team-best 54 draw controls on the season.
Hartman was named an Honorable Mention All-American after coming back from an injury that kept her off the field in 2022. A key part of the Sea Gulls' midfield, Hartman currently sits third on the team in points (32) with 24 goals and eight assists. She has also played an important role in the draw and is third on the team with 31 draw controls collected.
Hunsinger had a breakout year in her senior season that earned her Honorable Mention All-American status. The All-C2C First Team selection has amassed a 13-3 record, totaled over 800 minutes in the cage, tallied 111 saves and a 7.70 goals-against average.
The 2023 C2C Tournament MVP, Vilov earned Honorable Mention All-American honors after getting it done on both sides of the field. Defensively, the midfielder is second on the team in caused turnovers with 24 and first in ground balls with 26. Vilov has also added 23 goals on the offensive side of the field, including an impressive three-goal game on April 29 in the Sea Gulls' thrilling 12-11 OT win over C2C rival CNU.
This is the first USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American award for all five players.
Salisbury is back in action on Sunday, May 14 for the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Sea Gulls will take on the winner of the first-round matchup between Washington & Jefferson and Meredith. Opening draw is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Sea Gull Stadium in Salisbury, Md.
